Ivan Segawa is a Uganda-based pharmacist, epidemiologist, and early-career researcher with more than 10 years of experience advancing infectious disease research across clinical trials, observational studies, implementation science, and outbreak response. His work focuses on HIV prevention in sub-Saharan Africa, with particular attention to young women and other priority populations, and is driven by a commitment to strengthening scalable, differentiated service delivery models that expand access to prevention options.

At Root to Rise, Ivan supports the CATALYST PRO project, leading analyses of CATALYST study data and supporting scientific dissemination through conference presentations and peer-reviewed publications. He has co-authored nearly 30 peer-reviewed publications and is a former NIH Fogarty Global Health Fellow and 2025 Gilead Public Health Research Scholar. Outside of work, Ivan loves traveling and watching sports.
