Lumbani Makwakwa is a supply chain specialist with over 14 years of experience strengthening health systems and improving access to essential medicines across Africa and Asia. His expertise spans procurement and supply chain management, health commodity information systems, pharmaceutical systems strengthening, and government-to-government partnerships.

He has led U.S. Government-funded programs in Malawi and Nepal, supporting commodity procurement and supply management, eLMIS implementation, pharmaceutical and regulatory systems strengthening, and emergency response initiatives.

At Root to Rise, Lumbani works with governments and partners to strengthen supply chain performance, support the introduction of new health products, and ensure sustainable access to life-saving medicines.

He is a pharmacist and holds an MBA from Taipei Medical University in Taiwan and a CIPS Level 4 Diploma in Procurement and Supply.
